Ground Bees and Carpenter Bees
Are ground bees or carpenter bees a problem in your yard? Are there wasps nesting in the ground on the property, or inside of structures like walls or decks?
DC Mosquito Squad has Ground Bee and Carpenter Bee control programs that rid backyards of these bothersome pests.
Feeding Habits of Wasps and Bees
Wasps feed on other insects that can also be a nuisance like flies and crickets, and especially like human food and drink. Bees collect nectar and pollen and might be near a trash bin with empty soda containers and food with sugar.
Wasp and hornet nests can be quite dangerous, especially if an adult, child or animal unknowingly happens upon a nest. Protect your property from wasps and hornets, by asking for DC Mosquito Squad’s Ground Bee protection today.
There are various types of wasps and hornets nests, but generally these can be built in old tunnels and burrows made by animals, in trees, bushes, under eaves, or inside walls or voids. DC Mosquito Squad professionals are trained to look for nests in the yard and treat with an appropriate spray for removal.
Protect Your Family and Guests from Wasp and Bee Stings
If you have been stung and the stinger is left behind, remove the stinger quickly by scraping it off with a credit card or something similar. Don’t try to remove the stinger with your fingers or tweezers, as that can squeeze more venom into the sting site. Itching, redness and discomfort may result from a wasp or bee sting. Applying indirect ice to the site and taking an NSAID (such as ibuprofen) if you are able, may help with pain.
Common allergic reactions include hives, rash, swelling, upset stomach, breathing issues or headaches. Sometimes individuals may have life threatening reactions to stings including fainting, struggling for breath, and swelling of the throat and/or tongue. If a person has a severe allergic reaction to stings, he or she should seek emergency medical help immediately.
